How To Connect Devices?

This topic explains how to connect smart devices to a Wi-Fi network using standard setup procedures, and includes important compatibility tips and a reference to troubleshooting resources.

Before beginning, ensure the following:

  • The Wi-Fi SSID (network name) and password are available.
  • Your mobile device has the necessary manufacturer app installed.
  • The device is powered on and in pairing mode.

STEPS

  1. Open the device manufacturer's app on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Navigate to the “Add Device” or “Connect” option.
  3. Select your device model from the list.
  4. When prompted, enter the Wi-Fi SSID and password.
  5. Confirm the connection and wait for the device to link to the network.
  6. Check the app for a success confirmation or status update.
  7. Optionally, rename the device and assign it to a room or category for easier management.
Note:
Many smart devices only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bands. If your router is set to 5GHz only or using band steering, connection attempts may fail. Check your router settings and connect to a 2.4GHz network if needed.
